When is it coming out?

We’re aiming to release the game sometime in early 2024! We’ll announce the final date towards the end of the year!

We also don’t plan to do Early Access, though we’ll continue to host demos for feedback! Depending on the game’s reception, the game is planned to have updates after its full release.

How much will it cost?

Pricing is still subject to change, but we’re targeting $19.99 with a launch discount and regional pricing according to Steam’s recommendations.

Will the game be available on other storefronts?

Alongside Steam, we will also be releasing the game on Itch.io! We’re actively looking into possibly releasing across more storefronts as development progresses.

Will it have controller support?

Yes! We’re working on making the game fully compatible with multiple standard controllers and gamepads.

Is there support for Linux and the Steam Deck?

Yes! We’re looking into making a version of the game that runs natively on Linux and we’re aiming to include full support for the Steam Deck.

Is there support for Mac OS?

We’re looking into making it possible! However, since we don’t have the setup to properly quality assure Mac OS as of this time, we prefer to confirm support at a later date.

Is it coming to consoles?

We’ve announced that the game will also be coming to consoles! We still haven’t announced which consoles at this time, so please look forward to future console announcements. 😉

Is it coming to mobile?

At this time, we don’t have plans to bring the game to mobile.

What languages will it be localised to?

Aside from English, the game will also be localised in French, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil) and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

At this time we’re not looking for community localisations for other languages, but if you’re interested, please let us know.

Who is developing and publishing the game?

Townseek is being developed by our team at Whales And Games, a small indie game studio based in Portugal. We create polished games and art brimming with whalistic personality!

The game is being published by Super Rare Games as part of their Super Rare Originals label. They’re providing their expertise with the game’s production, allowing us to further develop the game to better fit our vision!

What’s the difference between the jam version and the commercial version?

Townseek was originally created for Global Game Jam 2021, and expanded with a few updates thereafter. After a very heart-warming reception we’ve put our focus into making a feature-complete full version of the game!

The full version introduces a much larger map with a completely refreshed art style, with dozens of towns to discover, trading and quests with expressive hosts. It features a new main quest featuring the journal of Sir Reginald Sharkingston. It also introduces more side-activities, more in-depth ship customisation, and much more!

Where can I follow you? Is there a Discord Server?

You can join us at our Discord Server! We’ve got a pretty close-knit community, and we’ll be sharing more of the game there as development continues!

I have a suggestion!

Let us know about it! We love to receive suggestions for anything including new features, activities, cosmetics, to the smallest details like critters and items!

We’d also love to know first hand if you’re a person that requires certain accessibility settings about which ones we should try and include in the game.

Please understand that giving suggestions doesn’t confirm we’ll implement them. If you’d like, you can suggest them to us through the #townseek-suggestions channel in our Discord Server!

I have another question!

Feel free to ask us by emailing us directly at [email protected] or through our Whales And Games Discord Server!
